The Beginning

In 2018 in America, 12.9% of women are still living in poverty. Women living without a spouse have a median income that is just under half that of those who are married and only 3/4 the amount that men living without a spouse make.

That brings us to the beginning of our story. When a single mother runs out of food. When she has no where to turn and all of the Women’s Shelters are full. She chooses something that she believes is her only option.

Sold

Her mother was scared. She tried not to let her little girl know. She played and smiled through her tears as she carried her child into an alley way she was told to go to. Someone would be meeting her. Like many others, this little girl was beautiful. However, the person meeting them sees her as a profit. Her mother tries to reassure her crying child as she hands them off to this stranger. Everything will be okay, it’s just for a little while, I’ll see you again, she said what she knew were lies as the stranger handed her $200.

Attempt

Time had passed and though the child was more bruised and malnourished every day, her soul was still beautiful. Her clients didn’t see it that way. They liked her better younger and so she was forced to leave with different men than usual. While they talked about the price for her body she snuck around the corner. She wanted another chance at life. Not knowing if she could trust the police, she would try to talk to them anyway. However, her owner caught her. She would pay for this.
